specific media + myspace | holiday party | hyatt huntington beach

happy 2012! hope everyone had an awesome new years so far! the bf & i celebrated with friends in san diego at the hard rock hotel this year. for the past few years, we’ve been pretty mellow in ringing in the new year so we decided to do a something different this year. hard rock definitely knows how to throw a party. we had a blast! here’s to 2012! wishing you all lots of good luck, love & happiness! it’s going to be a great year! =)

now to the blog post:

sophia from specific media does such an amazing job planning and coordinating the company’s holiday parties year after year! if specific media sounds familiar to you…it’s probably because they just bought out myspace! if you haven’t been on myspace lately, you should check out some of the new features…especially the music player…lots and lots of music. =)

this was my 4th consecutive year shooting specific media’s holiday party and everytime i am in awe with all the awesome details. the first thing you notice when you walk into the grand ballroom are the gorgeous centerpieces and the dramatic lighting. fayth from three petals and amber from amber event production did an exceptional job! this year’s theme was parisian with performances from fire dancers, aerialists, contortionists and of course, burlesque dancers which were all provided by zen arts…it was definitely a great show! in between acts, everyone enjoyed the open bar and food by various caterers, including furiwa. if you weren’t dancing, eating or drinking…you were at the cool flipbook station by a little scene. my assistant, john, and i were able to get a flipbook or two done and couldn’t stop laughing! lots of fun and loved the little flipbooks!

after zen arts performances, siren’s crush performed and are one of the best live dance bands i’ve heard! they are seriously ahhh-mazing! they definitely got the party started and everyone was on the dance floor…and i mean everyone…including me. =) the night didn’t end there…after siren’s crush, dj jay-p started up a whole new party. check out some of my favorite photos from the event:

fingerstachin’ at jimmy’s xmas party

now on to the post…the holiday mini session special this year was so popular! i had to add an extra date! the mini sessions were scheduled for sundays, october 23rd and november 14th and the added date was on october 2nd. i had to schedule the sessions a couple days before the bf and i left for nyc. the mini sessions are so much fun and it goes by so fast. i always think that i will be exhausted by the end of the day more so than a wedding shoot but i was actually not tired at all. day one of the holiday sessions were taken at upper newport bay in newport beach. here are some of my favorites from day one!

trami + kenny | engagement | soka university + laguna beach

trami and i go waaaaay back. my sister, lisa, and trami’s sister, chan, went to middle school together before my family moved to another city in 1989. we all used to take jujitsu together and competed together as well. trami and i were a team in the youngest (i think it was 6yrs-8yrs old) level for a competition and won the title! that’s right…we’re awesome like that. in actuality, we won the title cuz we were the only ones in our level competing. we won by default…but hey…we can both say we won 1st place in a countywide competition and just leave out the other details. =)

on the day of trami & kenny’s engagement session, we headed out to soka university of america in aliso viejo. soka is such an amazing location! it’s simply gorgeous. everywhere you turn, there’s a place to shoot! after SUA, we headed out to top of the world elementary school. this is where kenny proposed to trami so it has a lot of meaning to them. the tree in the middle of the playground is where it happened. we took a few pictures there then headed to a nearby park to get a couple of sunset photos to end the session. here are some of my favorites along with their slideshow. don’t forget to check it out at the end for more photos!

monica + bernardo | couples | el dorado nature walk long beach

monica & bernardo have been married for 9 years and will be doing a 10 year marriage vows renewal this january at the green river golf club in corona. i can’t wait! i met monica & bernardo and their kids a few years ago through one of my best friends, chantelle. their son, aiden, looks like a miniature bernardo…don’t you think? and monica looks like alexis’ sister rather than her mom! haha.

monica and bernardo decided they wanted to do a family/”engagement” session at the el dorado park nature walk. here are some of my favorites from our session.
