travels | barcelona spain

bienvenidos! this time last year, i was on an european adventure for my best friend’s wedding in france.

our first destination was barcelona, spain! i definitely loved barcelona but i’d say it’s #2 for me. the food was delicious and the people were super nice and the city was so clean! the subway system is one of the easiest to navigate. we arrived a few days after the world cup 2010 final so everyone in barcelona was still celebrating the win.

one of the first things we did was an afternoon bike tour with fat tire and i highly recommend doing it because it was an amazing experience. our tour guide, buddha, was excellent…he bought us all a round of beers! i wasn’t planning on drinking since i hadn’t eaten much for breakfast and it was pretty hot that day but buddha insisted. so half way through the tour ride…we stopped by one of the bull fighting arenas and that’s when i felt lightheaded. the heat and the beer got to me =/ [if you know me…you know that i’m a cheap date. one drink and bam. paaaartaaay!]. so i got off my bike and sat down on the blood stained concrete outside of the arena and the bf handed me water and a fruit snack. after 15 mins, i felt better and we biked to sagrada família with the rest of the tour. after another fruit snack, i felt fine and we biked out to barceloneta beach and had tapas & sangria on the beach and people watched. my friend and i walked around and dipped our feet in the mediterranean sea. definitely one of the best moments of the trip.

the rest of our stay was pretty awesome. we met up with a couple of local friends and just enjoyed the city. we went to the boqueria, las ramblas, el born, magic fountain of montjuïc, parc guell, and so much more! here’s a glimpse of our adventure in barcelona! =)
